To Whom It May Concern,

Niyakko Rush Soccer Club is a soccer ministry founded in 2013 with the purpose of creating community and opportunity to refugee youth in Aurora, Colorado through the game of soccer. Our goal is to not only give our players top-notch coaching and personal training, but also to teach them valuable life lessons that they will take with them beyond the soccer field such as discipline, hard-work, accountability, and grace.

“Coach Dion” was first invited to join one of our weekly Saturday afternoon practices on January 14, 2016 and we were blessed enough to have him return for the following two weeks of practice. Our outreach program will have guest trainers from time to time, but never have we had anyone who challenged not only our players but also our volunteer team as Dion La Foucade did.

His warm humor, commitment to excellence, and passion for bringing the greatness out of everyone in his influence was undeniable. English is not the native language for many of our players, so luckily for our players, Dion found ways to reach, inspire and guide our players without always using words.

From time to time, as is in all aspects of life, we can get into a habit of routine and lackadaisicalness and it is safe to say that our soccer ministry was creeping down that road. I truly believe that the timing of our sessions with Dion was not a coincidence but a divine intervention when we needed him the most. It is my hope that we will continue the good work Dion jump-started into our program and when our paths cross again we will have made him proud.

Thank you Dion for reminding us to have faith and believe in ourselves, our teams, and those we have yet to meet.

Thank you and God Bless!

Dion’s gift not only inspires players, but coaches and youth leaders as well.

We can thank certain people in our lives for shaping us as athletes and more importantly as individuals; and these people are irreplaceable mentors that guide us on the often difficult roads of life. Dion is one of these people who has helped me navigate these roads.

Knowing Dion for the past five years or so I can credit him with a huge sum of my soccer development alongside my personal development. His knowledge about the game is impeccable as he has scoured the globe to learn every aspect of the beautiful game. He has shown me things that happen on the pitch that know other coach would even be capable of competing with. He has shown me how the simple things in the game make the greatest difference, and how ones mind can make an even bigger difference.

When I reflect on what Dion has taught me as a player and person one quote resounds in my mind, “Talent is Never Enough”. It is the title of a book he shared with me which has helped motivate me in all aspects of my life to realize that  hard work gets the job done. I would rank Dion as one of the most knowledgeable in the country if not the world. He understand the game and people which is a combination few coaches possess; and it is because of this that I hold Dion in such high regard as a coach, mentor, and friend.

To Whom It May Concern

Over the past couple of years I consider myself blessed to have been coached by Dion La Foucade. He sees the game from a different point of view, more so than any coach I have ever worked with. He clearly loves what he does and makes training sessions something to always look forward to. Dion is very positive with everyone and gives feed back after each drill, and always ask the players for their input/s. In the training sessions we work on all aspects of the game especially the mental aspect.

I have played soccer at a very high level and thought that I had seen every drill possible until I met Coach Dion. He comes up with something new every practice, and each time I truly feel that I develop as a player. Dion is not only an excellent and highly qualified coach, but he is a great individual. He is always smiling and has such a positive attitude on and off the field. Dion continues to be a great mentor, coach, and friend. I have been truly blessed to have been able to work with Dion.

To Who It May Concern

I have had the privilege of knowing Dion for about 5 years now, and I am so thankful to have had him as a mentor, as a coach, and as a friend.

He has an outstanding amount of experience with coaching players of all ages, and has a knack for getting the best out of players. With a unique coaching style which uses encouragement yet also keeps players humble, Dion’s challenging technical drills and eye-opening tactical guidance allow players to expand their football (soccer) minds and reach new levels of understanding of the game as a whole. There is always another step further he can take your thinking, which always keeps players improving, and not plateauing. He has coached in all sorts of situations, from the most basic one on one 8 year old training session to running a practice for a top-flight professional team. Having been brought in to help coach at some of the largest Premiership clubs in England, as well as other top clubs around the world, he knows what it takes to be successful at the highest level.

While being a maestro of the beautiful game, he is also one of the most trustful, kind, and virtuous people you will meet. He has a love of sharing his knowledge with as many people as possible, to whoever may be open to hearing it. Dion would be a good fit at any club, in any type of coaching job, because of the versatility he has in his coaching experience as well as his natural talent in helping players of all skill levels and all ages improve their game.

Upon meeting Dion I became aware of his unique coaching style. The session was based around challenging technical drills that very clearly drew out my deficiencies, and at the same time really brought out the best in us. His constant encouragement, even throughout the most difficult of drills, drove us to succeed and even raise our standards. His willingness to help within and far beyond training is unmatched, and his highly positive attitude only helps grow his players love for the sport. I am truly grateful for meeting Dion and will continue to seek his help far into the future.

To Whom It May Concern:

It is my pleasure to write a reference for Dion La Foucade. Dion came into my family’s life 2 years ago. Dion had been at a soccer game and happened to see my son play a particularly difficult game. Dion contacted us and came by to visit with Joshua. Dion, on his own accord, wanted to to take time to encourage Joshua after seeing him get very frustrated in this particular game. From this moment Dion has been a fixture in our family and our sports community.

Dion spends time investing in the talents and more importantly the hearts of young men and women he comes into contact with. He always has a kind word and will take any opportunity to work with a team or individuals. His passion is to not only grow young people into better soccer players, but into strong men and women who learn from mistakes, focus their energies while being respectful and kind.

Dion has been a wonderful asset to our soccer community, but also to our family as a strong, kind, encouraging figure who is passionate about soccer and kids.

Thank you,
Karin Uhlig

Dion is always willing to be a positive influence regardless of the level of players.

Dear Dion,

I would like to say a few words on your behalf.

“If you are a soccer player and have a want and desire to get better and work
hard, I implore you to train with a Coach Dion. With a strong work
ethic and a love for the game, you can become better than you ever imagined by working with Dion. In the last two years, Dion has trained me with various technical, physical, and mental drills that helped me achieve my goals in soccer and so much more. I saw the game in a completely different way and gained the ability to be comfortable in any position on the field. Additionally, my technical ability and touch has definitively improved thanks to Dion.

However, none of this is possible without work. If you are not willing to work hard, try new things, and step out of your comfort zone, working with Dion will give you nothing. You have to trust in the drills and ,ethos which I guarantee you have never seen which can be difficult as first. Despite this, I urge any player at any skill level to work with Dion because if you work hard, Dion will help you reach heights you never thought were possible. Not only will your ability improve, but your love for the game and your work ethic in life and soccer will grow immensely”.

To whom it may concern,

Coach Dion has brought nothing but joy and love to me, and my family’s life.  He has the courage of a lion and a heart of gold. Coach Dion came into my life as an inspirational character at the perfect time.  He helped me continue to play the game of soccer which I love so much to this day. I can safely say that I would not be a 2016 5A State Champion without him.  His kindness and acts of giving without sometimes receiving are unparalleled in the soccer community in Boulder or in the state of Colorado for that matter. These are only some of the ways he has benefited and helped me become the person I am today, imagine what he has done for the hundreds possibly thousands of players he has worked with.  It is a blessing Dion La Foucade came into my life!

Sincerely, Cam Peterson

To whom it may concern,

My name is Julie Norbut, resident of Boulder Colorado. I would like to take this opportunity to share my experience with Dion La Foucade. In 2013, I met Coach Dion as he coached my son at our local soccer club in Boulder, Colorado. My son, Eli and I both noticed that Coach Dion quickly stood out to us a coach who is dedicated to the development of all soccer players. As time went on, Coach Dion has coached my son in both private and group lessons. In addition, I have observed Coach Dion coaching soccer the youth in the community. From young boys and girls to college age players, I have known Coach Dion to positively influence soccer players. Coach Dion is not only a soccer coach but a positive life mentor to the youth of our community. Sincerely, Julie Norbut

To Whom It May Concern

My first encounter with Dion La Foucade was during an out-of-state soccer tournament that he was filling-in as coach and I was chaperoning. Dion exposed my son, his teammates, and the parents to everything I believe soccer should be – a means not only to develop soccer players, but also to develop our community’s best citizens.

Since my son joined a new club, we have been quite impressed with our experiences with the team and his coach. But Dion took our experiences to a whole new level. I am thankful for the dedication, inspiration, compassion, commitment, down-right hard work, passion, and creativity that he has brought to working with my son and his teammates. He made a very significant impact in the lives of these boys – on and, especially, off the pitch.

A couple years later, my son was struggling with a difficult situation during high school play. Dion went out of way to contact him, provided him, with perspective, and helped him keep his head up. I look forward to Dion’s continued efforts with my son in whatever form that may take.
